Our company will begin requiring vaccination or negative Covid tests for employees. Can they use FSA or HSA funds, or HRA reimbursements, to purchase enough at-home Covid tests for two per week through the end of the year if they are not vaccinated? What about masks?
We are getting this question every day as more and more companies are requiring vaccinations or negative tests. The answer is absolutely! The IRS says it’s the same as any other diagnostic procedure or testing supply (like diabetes test strips for example). And, it should be noted that all Covid tests are considered eligible expenses regardless of the purpose for the need (i.e. those required for travel) or where they are administered. PPE, or personal protective equipment – like masks and hand sanitizers – are eligible too.
